the rhymes are like children
they play their own game
and if they should hurt me
they are not to blame
they are born of sorrow
misfortune and pain
but also of pleasure
again and again
they are my emotions
imagined and real
the expression I find
to show how I feel
if just for the moment
I can feel anything
I explore it deeply
and I crown it king
as if it were all I could feel
as if it were truly me
I try to let each word be real
to bring it to reality
but sometimes I go with the flow
with folly or fantasy
and the rhymes never really know
just which they will be
the rhymes are like children
the play their own game
and if they should hurt me
they are not to blame
they are born of feeling
both foolish and wise
and I try to feel all
without any lies
sometimes they speak truth
sometimes they disguise
but they just flow through me
right before my eyes
so give them time before you believe them
give them space to show what they mean
for rhymes are like children
sometimes right, sometimes wrong,
sometimes in between
but they still are the best hope
I've ever seen
at least for me...
if you know what I mean
