MIND GAMES
(every cell of the mind is alive, but separated... they can't think, and together... they can blow minds)

I've forgotten
more than I'll ever know
how it feels
to really let go
not embarrassed
letting life full bloom
not afraid
no gloom... no doom

I've forgotten
more than I've ever known
what's held back
and what has been shown
in the dark of light
between the breaths
just beyond the smiles
are the deaths

and most wallow in sadness
so afraid to see it end
that it never begins for them
except when the pretend
and some wander in spirit
trying hard not to be seen
hoping for a little goodness
thinking the world is mean
and some just struggle for power
lost in a misguided dream
forgetting it's all temporary
no wonder they want to scream
and some just choose to stay children
some laugh, some cry, some condemn
some are jealous and some are generous
some only see us and them

the secret is what is forgotten
pretending it's never been known
so we don't feel so foolish
as to give up what we've been shown
philosophers sketch out some answers
poets paint pictures with words
plumbers keep everything moving
some of us just watch the birds
and there can be answers in stories
and there can be answers in clouds
and there can be answers inside you
silent or crying out loud
the secret is what is forgotten
the smile is remembering
the power is sharing it freely
do that and you will be crowned king

I've forgotten
more than I've ever seen
how it feels
to know what I mean
confident
to share everything
not afraid
to dance and sing
not afraid
to love everything

it's all in the mind
it's all left behind
it's all forgotten
the blind lead the blind
it's all forgotten
that's so unkind
it's all forgotten
it's all left behind
it's all forgotten
it's all in the mind
